PARENT COMMITTEE DESCRIPTONS

1)  *Auction Chair (Full Run):  Responsible for procuring a portion of items, organizing donated items, creating all necessary paperwork, & signage for the auction as well as completing the required reporting tools once the event has ended.  Prepare autographed framed posters at a dress rehearsal.  Will work one dress rehearsal and all shows.  Must miss 2nd Act of final show.

2)  Auction Committee (Show Run):   Works with the Auction Chair behind the auction tables helping patrons with questions, help with set up and tear down of auction tables/display and assist with the close out of the auction.   Will work most shows depending on committee size.  Must miss 2nd Act of final show.

3)  *Backstage Chair (Full Run):  Leads the Backstage Committee, schedules show coverage, coordinates set transitions, facilitates set storage with stage manager, & will work backstage. Attend Run-throughs, Paper Tech & all dress rehearsals.  Works most shows.  If co-chairing, both chairs need to attend run-throughs, Paper Tech and Move-in.

4)  *Backstage Committee (Show Run):  Supports the Backstage Chair with the training of backstage etiquette within the cast and crew, & assists the crew chief.   Must be available to work during move-in, dress week, & most shows.

5)  *Box Office Chair (Show Run):  Oversees all ticketing activities at the theater.  Will train committee members on duties, schedule committee show coverage, arrange pick up of supplies from the Journey office, & reconcile show income/ticket sales.  Must be able to come to the Journey office during Dress Week to pick up supplies.  Will work all shows.

6)  Box Office Committee (Show Run):  Responsible for selling tickets at show, distributing unprinted tickets, & resolving ticketing issues that arise at the theater during show times.  Will work all shows. 

7)  Community Relations Chair (Full Run) Works with community partners on advertising opportunities, speaks at first parent meeting on community opportunities, meets with Poster Committee, picks up boxes of programs from Portland (opening day), and delivers them to the theater. Work is prior to move-in, at first parent meeting, prior to first show and opening day.

8)  *Costumes Chair (Full Run):  Responsible to delegate costume assignments to committee members. This includes pulling, sewing new, altering, shopping, borrowing, and/or renting costumes. Will organize & supervise committee work & progress. Sewing skills are helpful.  Will work Run Through rehearsals, Costume Parade, all Dress Rehearsals & many/most shows.

9)  *Costume Committee (Full Run):  Pulls, sews, alters, shops for, and/or borrows costumes for assigned cast members, completing assignments by Costume Parade.  Also performs fittings, labels costumes, sorts, organizes, inventories, set-up/tear down as needed.  Works pre-show, Costume Parade, Move-in, Dress Rehearsals & most shows.

10)  *Costume Help (Pre-Show):  Supports the Costumes Committee with pulling, sewing, thrift shopping, & making accessories as assigned.  Works First Parent Meeting through Move-in.

11)  *Docent Committee (Pre-Show):  Coordinates & runs educational visits for school groups attending School Day Shows.  Must be able to make docent visits during school hours during dress week or 2 weeks prior to show. Beaverton Show only.

12)  *Green Room Chair (Show Run):  Responsible for supervising cast & crew in green room during on-site rehearsals, performances, & after show cleaning with committee support.  Schedules committee show coverage, student cleaning, & coordinates Secret Pals.  Will work all dress rehearsals & many shows depending on size of team.

13)  *Green Room Committee (Show Run):  Responsible for supervising cast & crew in green room during on-site rehearsals, performances, & after show cleaning under the direction of the Green Room Chair.  Must be available to work during move-in, dress week, & most shows. 

14)  *Hair & Make Up Chair (Full Run):  Coordinates designs for make-up/hair (with committee), purchases supplies as needed with a set budget, trains cast members on makeup application, & schedules committee show coverage.  Must be available to work First Rehearsal, Makeup training, Costume Parade, Dress Rehearsals & shows. Will work most shows depending on size of team.

15)  *Hair & Make Up Committee (Full Run):  Supports Hair & Make Up Chair in hair & make up designs, & application/training.  Must be available for Makeup Training, Costume Parade, Dress Rehearsals & shows.  May work most shows depending on committee size.

16)  House Chair (Show Run):  Lead House Committee (Ushers) in assisting patrons to their seats & handing any seating issues.  Organize program passers, schedule committee show coverage, train committee members on duties, & run house during all shows.  Must attend final dress rehearsal. Will work most shows.

17)  House Committee (Show Run):  Responsible for ushering patrons to their seats as well as house rule management.  Will work most shows.

18)  Painting Chair (Full Run):  Leads the Painting Committee(s) to complete all painting of the sets prior to Move-in day.  Works closely with Sets Chair.  Works most Saturdays, move in week, & touch ups during the show.

19)  Painting Committee - Artistic (Pre-Show):  Supports  Painting Chair in artistic painting of sets.  Works most Saturdays.

20)  Painting Committee – Non-Artistic (Pre-Show):  Supports Painting Chair with basic painting work.  Works most Saturdays.

21)  *Photography Committee (Full Run):  Responsible for taking program photos during first rehearsal.  Also takes candids during Run Thru rehearsals, parent passes,  button photos, & other show related pictures.  Creates parent passes, show button photos, & photo CDS.  Must be able to attend 1st Rehearsal, Run Thru Rehearsals & 2 Dress Rehearsals.

22)  Posters Chair  (Pre-Show) - Leads the preparation & distribution of show posters, show cards, & bookmarks.  Responsible for refilling cards in high traffic areas.  Needs to be available at some rehearsals/classes to distribute posters/cards to families.  Work is prior to move-in.

24)  *Props Chair (Full Run):  Lead Props committee to locate/create props & trophies for the show, schedule committee show coverage, & handle prop repairs during show run.  Assists with set dressing.  Works prior to move in on creation, attends Act 1&2 run-throughs, any full run-throughs, move-in, dress week, & most shows.

25)  *Props Committee (Full Run):  Supports Props Chair in locating/creating props and trophies for the show, as well as handling prop repairs during show run.   Works prior to move in on creation, attends Act 1&2 run-throughs, any full run-throughs, move-in, dress week, & most shows depending on size of team.

26)  *Refreshments Chair (Show Run): Responsible for
scheduling show coverage, purchasing of product, selling/ replenishing product, transportation/set up refreshments table, & oversee deposits. Will work most shows depending on size of team arriving 1 to 1 ½ hours prior to showtime. 

27)  Refreshments Committee (Show Run): Supports Refreshments Chair with transportation/set up/tear down of refreshments area & selling refreshments during shows.  May work most or all shows, arrive 1 to 1 ½ hours prior to performances.

28)  Sets Chair (Full Run):  Leads Sets & Painting Committees to build/adapt/paint/dressing sets according to set design & striking set/returning to warehouse.   Will work most Saturdays (starting weekend following auditions), full move-in day, & strike.

29)  Sets Committee (Full Run):  Supports Sets Chair to build/adapt/paint sets according to set design & striking set/returning to warehouse.  Will work most Saturdays (starting weekend following auditions), full move-in day, & strike.

30)  *Show Chair (Full Run):  Organize meals/parties, coordinate artistic team gifts, create show publicity board, set up/tear down information table at theater, & make show bank deposits.  Mentor New Parents.  Strong organizational skills.  Must be able to coordinate/deliver meals for Artistic Team & students at theater, pick up table supplies at office, set up table opening night, and tear down table at the end of each weekend.

31)  *Souvenirs Chair (Full Run):  Lead Souvenir committee in providing souvenirs for sale relating to show, schedule committee show coverage, & oversee souvenir income/expense reporting.  Will work most shows.

32)  Souvenirs Committee (Full Run):  Supports Souvenir Chair in creating souvenirs for sale relating to show & staffing souvenir table during shows.  May work most shows depending on committee size. 

33)  *Tech Chair (Full Run):  Work with Tech Manager to plan & obtain necessary show light & sound equipment.  Schedule committee show coverageStrike & return technical equipment to warehouse. Training will be provided if necessary.   Will attend rehearsal run-throughs,  paper-tech, move-in, dress rehearsals, all shows (including school day shows), & strike.

34)  *Tech Committee (Full Run):  Supports Tech Chair with transport/set up/running/return of technical equipmentTraining will be provided if necessary.   Will attend rehearsal run-throughs, move-in, dress rehearsals, all shows (including school day shows), & strike.

35)  Parking (Show Run): Beaverton Alpenrose location. Will monitor theater parking lot during dress rehearsals & performances.

36) Warehouse (Full Run): Vancouver/Van East.  Completes projects at the Journey Theater Warehouse.

37) Costumes Laundry (Post Show)  Responsible for washing hundreds of costume pieces at your home (or dry cleaning), handing costumes, & returning to costume room at warehouse.  Work is following show close.  Plan to be at the warehouse for 2 hours when returning items.
